Bringing Wheat Home: Pioneering Research at CSIR-SARI

Wheat is a staple crop with the potential to transform the agricultural landscape and livelihoods of farmers in Ghana. Wheat Research and cultivation in the country have not been explored due to climate and agronomic challenges.

At CSIR-SARI, we believe in turning challenges into opportunities. That’s why we’re excited to announce the start of a groundbreaking research activity aimed at identifying and developing wheat varieties that can thrive under Ghana’s unique environmental conditions.

Our researchers are exploring wheat types with the potential for high yields and adaptability, leveraging science to bridge the gap between local farming conditions and global wheat production standards. The ultimate goal? To reduce wheat import dependence, empower our farmers, and enhance national food security.
